The Global Health Law Consortium is open to active members who are independent international legal scholars focused on global health law.
- “Independent” refers to those researchers who pursue their own academic research agenda with academic freedom.
- “International legal scholars” refers to researchers who are qualified as lawyers or appointed at law schools and who focus on the international legal system and the way that principles, rules, norms and decision-making procedures contribute to global governance.
- “Focused on global health law” indicates that a substantial portion of the researcher’s ongoing research addresses global health law issues.
Consortium members who wish to propose new members that meet the membership requirements, as clarified in the Consortium’s governance document, are strongly encouraged to first consult the Global Health Law Consortium Chair in advance of speaking to the nominee and submitting a written proposal to the Chair.
A membership proposal should be at minimum one page long and formatted as a letter. It should briefly state the candidate’s expertise in the field of global health law, explain how the nominee meets each of the membership criteria, and annex the candidate’s complete curriculum vitae.
The Global Health Law Consortium Chair will evaluate the proposal for membership eligibility and then transmit their recommendation and the proposal to the Full Membership for its decision. The admission of new members is confirmed by majority vote of the Full Membership.
