Global health law is fragmented without a coherent body of standards. It includes instruments adopted under the framework of the WHO and other relevant international organizations, and a range of hard and soft law standards recognised in other branches of international law – such as human rights law, international humanitarian law, international environmental law, and international economic law. 

Global health challenges are vast. Infectious, communicable diseases (CDs) have represented a major public health threat since the dawn of humanity. Non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, will be the leading cause of death in every region in the world by 2030.  Despite years of progress, politicians and courts reignite attacks on reproductive health rights. Environmental degradation and climate change increasingly adversely affect health and society at large. Migration, urbanization, and internal and international conflicts can all have health impacts across borders. Meanwhile, health and medicine are increasingly digitised, which brings opportunities and challenges in need of global solutions. 

As the first journal dedicated solely to global health law, we invite contributions with a global focus. Articles are welcomed from scholars from all over the world examining global health law, as well as, its interaction with other fields, such as domestic legal systems and other forms of governance, whether they be domestic, regional or global.
